I am the owner of Cakes by Maureen. I have been designing and decorating wedding and special occasion cakes for clients in the southern Maryland region as well as Baltimore, Howard, and Montgomery counties. I believe in using the freshest and finest ingredients in the preparation of my cakes.
My goal is to keep abreast of the current trends in the ever-changing wedding cake industry. In doing so, I attend frequent training courses, and local and national conventions where some of today's most talented sugar artists share their knowledge and offer hands on training. My training includes courses given by Nicholas Lodge, Earlene Moore, Sandy Hargrave, and Collette Peters to name a few.
I offer private cake tastings for prospective clients at no charge. If you are interested in scheduling a tasting, please do so well in advance of your planned event. I will secure your date on a first come, first pay basis. During these private consultations, brides are able to sample a variety of cakes, fillings, and frostings. Some of my most popular requests include sour cream white cake with strawberry filling, triple chocolate cake with chocolate ganache filling, and my tried and true recipe for a delicious and moist carrot cake.
